About Peter Gregory

I am a psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience.

I am trained to work with couples and individuals. The theory and practice of couple therapy is different to individual therapy and requires specific training. This was part of my training.

Therapy is tailored to suit the individual; I do not have a “one size fits all” view. Rather therapy is specific to suit the needs of the individual or couple.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a project manager in the building services engineering industry. I could do the job, but wanted something else. In 1992 I took the opportunity to retrain; this led to UKCP registration, an important professional and personal achievement.

Above all, I enjoy helping clients to re-focus their life positively.

Qualifications

  • MA(Ed)
  • CAES (Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies): Psychosexual Counselling and Therapy
  • CAES (Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies): Cancer Health Education
  • CAES (Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies): Bereavement and loss.
  • Diploma in Psychosexual Counselling and Therapy.

Additional Training

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) levels 1 and 2.
  • Trauma focussed CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

  •  UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). Registration with UKCP means I am also registered with the PSA (Professional Standards Authority).

 

To maintain my registration, I receive regular clinical supervision, and also undertake continued professional development.

  • Primary Care psychological therapy service.

Currently I work in private practice. I receive referrals from medical insurers, psychiatrists and solicitors.
